Yoga Practice is Effective for Weight Loss

Yoga for Weight Loss

Weight gain is the result of leading a lifestyle where you take in more calories than you utilize. It needs as many healthy long-term approaches to weight loss as possible. In order to lose weight, you must eat healthily and burn calories by doing exercise that raises your heart rate on a regular basis. More vigorous yoga styles can provide a better workout than gentle yoga, but if weight loss is your primary goal, you will want to combine yoga with running, walking, or other aerobic exercise.

Different yoga exercises are aimed for the betterment of our body and system.  Following are some good yoga exercises which should be practiced under the guidance of a good trainer:

·         What is much better for weight loss is getting the heart rate up for a very short burst and then dropping it right down, then getting it up and then dropping it down. This can certainly be achieved by an intelligent yoga practice. Practice Surya Namaskar (sun salutation) regularly and that will help you to attain this.

·         The liver has many essential functions. It purifies your blood. Stimulate the vital force of the liver by practicing the following yoga exercises:

4.       Matsyendrasana (spinal twist)

·         If the body is too acidic (that means the body have low pH), then the body will attempt to protect itself from the acid by storing fat.  And most people struggling with their weight are too acidic. Following yoga exercise will help you to increase alkalinity of the body:
  1.        Paschimottanasana (seated forward bend)
  2. .    Janushirasana (head to knee pose)

·         Their nervous system is under pressure from lifestyle choices. Do the following yoga exercises to relax nervous system:
  1.   Savasana (corpse pose)
  2.   Viparita Karani (legs up the wall)
·         Many people have food matter blocked up in their colon. Severe bloating can appear as obesity. Eventually if left untreated it can poison the blood and leads to disease. There are many yoga postures that will help you to clean the colon.  Some basic ones are:
  1.   Utks'epa Mudra (bellow’s pose) to be done first thing in the morning upon waking
  2. Agnisara Mudra (fire pose)

·         Any yoga position that requires you to be active will help with weight loss. Some great postures for this are:
  1.  Bakasana (crane)
  2.  Pincha Mayurasana (feathered peacock)
  3.  Tolasana (scale pose)
  4.   Chaturanga (plank)

All the suggested postures should only be practiced on an empty stomach. They should be practiced under the guidance of a good trainer. If they are practiced daily, correctly and consistently, in combination with good food habits, then balance will return to the body and mind and the health of the practitioner will be restored quickly. Regular yoga practice can give you a valuable and unshakeable body consciousness that would help you eat less and the right kind of food.
