Arthritis Symptoms

Main symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis are as follows:

  • Morning stiffness is a symptom of RA.  This discomfort will last for a longer period.  By doing right type of exercises, the effects of the stiffness can be diminished.
  • The patient will suffer from pain and inflammation in forefoot.
  • Tingling in the wrists of hands is a symptom.  This sensation will become worse at night.  This is known as carpal tunnel syndrome.
  • When some injuries like sprained ankle are not healing, this may be because of RA.
  • RA causes dryness of the eyes, mouth, nose, skin etc. due to dysfunction of the glands.  This is known as Sjogrens syndrome.
  • Joint pain is another symptom.  This aching will last for more than a week and usually affects the symmetrical joints, such as hands, feet, knees at the same time.
  • Because of so much swelling the tendons around the joints, particularly in the knees and elbows will not be able to bend resulting in locked joints.

Treatment for Rheumatoid Arthritis

The treatment for rheumatoid arthritis is usually done by the administration of modified Anti Rheumatic Drugs or (DMARDS).  These drugs are helpful to slow down and prevent the damage. Use of drugs such as DMARDS is not practical for a long time because of their adverse effects.  Much further discomforts such as stomach upset etc. will occur as an after effect of the continuous use of these drugs.

Alternate medicines such as acupuncture, massage therapy, magnetic therapy etc. is used by many who want to avoid the use of drugs.  Arthritis treatment should consist of an overall treatment for supporting the total health of the body by giving intensive care to the affected parts.

The effective treatments for joint pain should include medicines or supplements that are able to cure the deficiency of calcium, vitamins, nutrients etc. for the overall well being of the patient.
